     Title: Visit of Jan Sliva

Jan Sliva, member of the external monitoring team visited the Steppe oak woods of NagykÅ‘rös LIFE project at the beginning of May.

It was the second site visit of the Commission's representative in order to check the progress of our project on the field. On the whole day programme participated the project staff of the Duna-Ipoly National Park Directorate, the coordinators of the project partners and the representative of the Ministry of Environment and Water.

After the presentation of the project's achievements in the Green Spot Office, Mr. Sliva visited the Pálfája Educational Centre and its surroundings. Then we showed him those forest compartments where the habitat restoration works had been started in the autumn. The last stop of the field trip was the locally protected Strázsa-hill, which is severely threatened by the cross-motorbikers and quad-riders. The unpaired natural values of this site (a habitat for Dianthus diutinus as well) and the overall progress of the project, both pleased the EU monitor. The photograph was taken at the bottom of Strázsa-hill.
